Budding Poets: Poetry Month- ECC Winners

Ravioli

By: Kinley Seretti Strick, PreK (transcribed by Mom)

I love my kitty,

I cannot believe how much she’s grown.

We found her at ICSA.

She was there for sleep, not school.

I love my kitty,

And her name is Ravioli

Meow meow meow

JJ

By: Siena Oqueli, PreK (transcribed by Mom)

J.J. Is the best

I love him more than the rest

J.J. Is my favoritest stuffie boy

He is not just a toy

He loves to sing

He does lots of things

I love you J.J.

Always everyday

J.J. Helps me sleep at night

I don’t want him out of my sight

Tractor and Brother

By: Rafael Lahoud, KGA

I had great fun at the farm

Tractors are such fun to drive

My brother almost broke his arm

As we were counting down from five

to take a selfie on daddy’s phone

when the engine started with a roar

He jolted and fell on the dog’s bone

And I was shaken to my core

Elephant in the Zoo

Inspired by Carl Nelson N’Zi de Medeiros, KG

An elephant and its keeper, happy and free.

In the zoo, a special sight to see,

With a trunk so long and a heart so kind,

Their bond is strong, one of a kind.

Keeper and elephant, side by side,

In the zoo, they’re filled with pride.

With treats to share and games to play,

Their friendship grows stronger every day.

Children marvel at their friendship true,

In the zoo, where dreams come true.

With laughter and joy, they roam around,

In this special place, love knows no bounds.

Lioness in the Zoo

Inspired by William Louis Famien de Medeiros, KG

In the zoo, behind the gate,

Lives a lioness, regal and great.

With a mane so fierce and eyes so bright,

She’s a queen in her home, day and night.

She prowls her den with majestic grace,

In her enclosure, she finds her space.

With a mighty roar, she greets the crowd,

In her kingdom, she stands proud.

Children watch in awe and glee,

As she lounges beneath the shade of a tree.

Though she’s far from her wild domain,

In the zoo, her majesty will always reign.

Elizabeth is the Best

By: Isa Oqueli, KG (Translated by Mom)

Elizabeth is the best

Elizabeth is the person that helps me sleep

I love Elizabeth a lot

Elizabeth helps me lose my teeth

Elizabeth loves polka dots

Elizabeth loves me holding her

Friends

By: Karolina Tsibulskaya, KG

I like to see my friends together,

When they arrive to our school.

And even when it’s raining weather,

To see my friends – it’s really cool!

I love their pure like water smiles,

Their hugs, their scream and real joy.

And when between us hundreds miles,

I’m sad sometimes and hug my toy.

I love their smiles, when in the morning

We all together in the school.

And if someone is little stormy,

We’re smiling back! It’s our rule!
